Accounts built for product businesses
Your system accounts will cover payables, receivables, cash, card clearing, freight, and the other accounts a product business needs, so each receipt, shipment, and payment will land in the right place.
eCommerce accounting
adorabl's accounting software for eCommerce will connect your chart of accounts and journal entries to supplier bills, customer invoices, payments, and month-end close. Money in and money out will post where your operations already happen, so your books will keep pace with what ships and what arrives.
When your warehouse ships in one system and your books close in another, deposits, payouts that never match the bank, and month-end blockers turn into email threads. adorabl will keep your payables, receivables, and general ledger in the same system as your orders and stock.
Your system accounts will cover payables, receivables, cash, card clearing, freight, and the other accounts a product business needs, so each receipt, shipment, and payment will land in the right place.
Bills track what you owe suppliers, and invoices track what customers owe you. Your payments will apply to each one, you can unapply them, and either way you'll keep a remittance record.
Turn off inventory and cash posting once counts and the bank reconciliation are done, finish payables and receivables, then close and lock the month. Reopening it will take a reason.
Set up your books first, then run payables and receivables, then close each month on a clear schedule.
Before you go live, finish finance setup: system accounts, chart of accounts, dimensions, fiscal calendar, and payment methods.
Add suppliers, post bills and adjustments, and apply outgoing payments in accounts payable. Your 1099 reporting will show which suppliers need a Form 1099.
Manage customers, post invoices, and apply incoming payments in accounts receivable. adorabl can create invoices when an order ships in full, and your payment reminder emails will include a link to pay.
Clear outstanding drafts and unreconciled bank lines, turn off posting for each area as your team finishes, then close and lock the month. You can reopen it later with a reason.
adorabl's general ledger software will give your finance team what it reviews at close: consolidated balances, journals ready to post, and period controls.
Your chart of accounts will show one row per general ledger account, with balances combined across dimensions and grouped from assets through expenses.
Journal entries will move from draft to posted only after balance, dimension, and period checks. Source links and reversals will keep voids and full credits easy to trace.
System accounts are the control accounts that payables, receivables, inventory, and cash post to behind the scenes, including deferred revenue, prepaid expenses, operating cash, card clearing, and freight.
You can turn posting on or off for payables, receivables, inventory, and cash separately. Closing a period will block new entries dated in it, and reopening a locked period will take a reason.
Your payables and receivables will use the terms you already know: bills for suppliers and invoices for customers.
| Area | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Accounts payable | Suppliers, bills and adjustments, outgoing payments, and the Form 1099 report |
| Accounts receivable | Customers, invoices and adjustments, incoming payments, collections, and payment reminders |
| General ledger | Chart of accounts, journal entries, fiscal calendar, system accounts, and dimensions |
| Bank reconciliation | Bank reconciliation clears cash, settlement reconciliation will tie Shopify and Amazon payouts back to their orders, and period close expects activity reconciled through the end of the period |
The Form 1099 report will show which suppliers need a 1099 and export a CSV file for your accountant.
Month-end close is the process of checking, reconciling, and locking a month's transactions so that month's financial statements are final. adorabl will set you up for a faster month-end close: clear blockers, turn off posting for each area as your team finishes, then close and lock. Late adjustments will reopen the period with a record of who changed what.
Product businesses need invoices that follow shipments, bills that match receipts, and a close with controls, without a second accounting system to run it all.
When an order ships in full, adorabl can create the customer invoice from the shipped items and order prices, and apply any deposit when the channel requires prepayment.
Each stocked line on a supplier bill will have to match a posted receipt within your price tolerance. When the match isn't clear, you'll pick the right receipt before the bill posts.
Dunning is the process of reminding customers about unpaid invoices. adorabl will send automated payment reminder emails in steps you set up in receivables, and you can pause them when you need to.
A closed period will reopen only for someone with a finance role who gives a reason, and a locked period has to be unlocked first. adorabl will record who reopened it, when, and why.
Example · Trail Ridge Outfitters
Trail Ridge Outfitters runs its March month-end close in three steps.
1. Operations first
Inventory and cash posting switch off once the count adjustments and bank reconciliation are posted.
2. Clear the drafts
The Outstanding Items view shows two draft bills. The payables team posts them, then turns off payables posting.
3. Close and lock
The receivables team posts the last credit memo. Closing moves March to Closed, and Trail Ridge locks it once statements go out.
Trail Ridge pays suppliers weekly against a $2 million minimum cash balance, and each payment run waits until the team reviews the cash flow projection.
Accounting touches everything else you run. See how the rest of adorabl connects.
You'll match your general ledger to imported bank activity, and each Shopify and Amazon payout will tie back to its orders before you close the period.
Shipments will post cost of goods sold (COGS), and orders that ship in full will create customer invoices in receivables.
Matched supplier bills will post to payables and clear when you pay them.
Adjustments and shipments will post to the inventory and COGS accounts set for each item.
eCommerce accounting software records sales, fees, inventory costs, bills, and payments for businesses that sell physical products, and keeps the general ledger in step with orders and stock. adorabl will run your accounting in the same system as your orders, purchasing, and inventory, so you won't need to sync a separate accounting tool.
Yes. adorabl will handle all three in one system: suppliers, bills, payments, and 1099 reporting in accounts payable; customers, invoices, incoming payments, and payment reminders in accounts receivable; and both will post to your general ledger. You won't need separate accounts payable software for small business on top of it.
You'll close faster when one view shows everything still open and each area can wrap up on its own. In adorabl, the Outstanding Items view will list every draft and unreconciled bank line holding up the close, and you can turn off posting for each area as its team finishes, then close and lock the month.
Yes. When an order ships in full, adorabl can create the customer invoice from the shipped items and order prices. That will work for orders you ship yourself, third-party logistics (3PL) shipments, customer pickups, and marketplace orders. adorabl won't invoice a fulfillment until it ships in full.
Yes. adorabl will send automated payment reminder emails, a process called dunning, in steps you set up in accounts receivable. Each reminder will include a link to pay, and you can pause them when you need to. Dunning usually means a series of emails that escalate after the due date.
Accounting dimensions are tags, such as cost center or region, added to a general ledger account so you can report on it in more detail. In adorabl, a full account code will combine the general ledger account with its dimensions, and your chart of accounts will roll balances up by account while letting you drill into each combination.
A 4-4-5 calendar splits each quarter into two four-week periods and one five-week period, so periods line up week for week. Retailers often use it to compare sales from year to year on equal footing. In adorabl, you can set your fiscal calendar to a standard calendar year, a custom fiscal year, or 4-4-5.
Yes. adorabl will handle marketplace settlement reconciliation for Shopify and Amazon, matching each payout on your settlement report to the orders, fees, refunds, and adjustments inside it. A clearing account holds those amounts until the deposit lands in the bank, then clears to zero when everything matches.
